Tom Hanks has warned his Instagram followers about how his voice and image were used for a dental commercial without his permission.
The actor stressed that the ad is fake and was created using artificial intelligence.
/”Beware! There’s a video out there promoting some dental plan with an AI version of me. I have nothing to do with it,/” wrote Hanks.
Despite having concerns about the use of AI in film and TV, Hanks has previously permitted the technology to generate virtual versions of himself.
For his role in the 2004 Christmas movie The Polar Express, a CGI character of Hanks was created.
/”There are discussions ongoing to come up with the legal ramifications of my face and my voice, and everybody else’s, being our intellectual property,/” said Hanks.
