How to use Echo Dot without being plugged in
Echo Dot consumes a lot of power. It requires 12 volt voltage at 1.25 Amps which is equivalent to 15 W. It consumes a lot of power even when it is on standby mode unlike a Bluetooth speaker. This is because Echo Dot needs to be alert all the time so that it could respond when it is called. That’s why it comes with an adaptor and not a battery. Luckily, there is an alternative. So, in this video, I’ll show you how could use Echo Dot without being plugged with a help of a battery base. In this way you could carry Echo Dot anywhere you want! Just make sure it’s connected to the internet.

Specifications
This particular battery base is developed specifically for Echo Dot Generation 4. However, you could find a similar base for other generations as well.
Battery capacity is 5200mAh. Which means you could run Echo Dot for 6 hours below 100% volume, 7 hours below 50% volume and 15 hours when on standby. In another words, you’ll need to charge the battery at least once a day.
DC output is 12 V at 1.25 Amps in order to match the power adaptors specifications. Bear in mind that the battery base’s voltage will fluctuate as the battery is consumed from its 100% full charge. It got an LED Battery level indicator. The LED lights go down as the battery capacity drops. When charging, the battery would become hotter but it is normal at such a high voltage. Make sure you use the same power adaptor as it’s provided with your echo dot.
